BEHIND THE BRAND

Domenico Vacca is the founder and creative director of the luxury brand
Domenico Vacca
In 1996, Domenico Vacca decided to return to his family roots by reviving the fashion atelier founded in Puglia in 1920 by his maternal grandmother, Savina Orciulo, and investing in a Neapolitan bespoke clothing company.
After six years of developing men’s and women’s collections and expanding the business in the American market, he launched his own brand, Domenico Vacca, which today is a leader in the luxury menswear and womenswear industry.
In 2002, he opened the first Domenico Vacca store on the prestigious Fifth Avenue in New York, alongside the giants of international fashion, bringing to the American metropolis the true Made in Italy—authentic in style, quality, and fit. That same year, the Italian newspaper La Repubblica published an article on the brand’s exceptional success in the U.S., calling Domenico Vacca “the Ferrari of clothing.” Success followed swiftly, with the opening of two more stores in New York on Madison Avenue and one on West Broadway in SoHo. More locations quickly followed in Beverly Hills, Miami and Palm Beach in Florida, Doha in Qatar, London, Mexico, and Moscow.
In 2015, the designer opened The Domenico Vacca, a ten-story building on 55th Street, at the corner of Fifth Avenue, which became the American headquarters of his fashion house and the first building in New York to bear the name of an Italian.
In 2021, a Domenico Vacca boutique opened in Rome on Via della Croce, at the corner of Piazza di Spagna. In 2024, another boutique opened in Bari on Via Calefati, at the corner of Via Sparano, and in July 2024, an atelier will open in Milan, in Piazza San Babila, within a showroom that also supports international distribution.
Since 2003, Domenico Vacca has been one of Hollywood’s most beloved designers, creating wardrobes for lead actors in over fifty films and TV series, including Denzel Washington in American Gangster, Al Pacino in The Son of No One, Dustin Hoffman in Stranger Than Fiction, Harrison Ford in Morning Glory, Glenn Close in Damages, Forest Whitaker in Street Kings and The Godfather of Harlem, Jeremy Piven in Entourage, Terrence Howard in Empire, and many more. Domenico Vacca has dressed the most prestigious Hollywood stars on the red carpets of major international film awards, including the Golden Globes and the Oscars. Daniel Day-Lewis, Mickey Rourke, Forest Whitaker, Alan Arkin, Steve Carell, Will Ferrell, Jack Black, Seth Rogen, and Jonah Hill are just some of the celebrities who have worn his creations. In 2022, at the Cannes Film Festival, Forest Whitaker received the Palme d’Or for lifetime achievement wearing Domenico Vacca, with many other actors and directors following his lead.
